Royal Dixon Royal Dixon (25 March 1885– 4 June 1962) was an American author, born at Huntsville, Texas, and educated at the Sam Houston Normal Institute and as a special student at the University of Chicago. After spending five years with the department of botany at the Field Museum of Chicago, he entered the literary field as a member of the Houston ''Chronicle'' staff. He made special contributions to the newspapers of New York, where he lectured for the Board of Education. His interest and attention were directed to immigration, as a director of publicity of the Commission of Immigrants in America, and as managing editor of ''The Immigrants in America Review''. In 1921 in Manhattan, he founded the Animal Church at a meeting attended by 300 people.
